Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility & Belonging (DEIAB) Initiative at the UCSF Center for Tuberculosis

The DEIAB Initiative, led by Drs. Gustavo Velásquez and Midori Kato-Maeda with the DEIAB Committee, seeks to:

Engage meaningfully with our community and cultivate a culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging; 

Promote equity in research that will result in stronger partnerships and serve as an accelerant in advancing TB research domestically and worldwide; 

Enhance DEI through developing diverse recruitment-based practices, and methods of advancement for staff and faculty at CTB; 

Develop a system of accountability and visibility of DEI initiatives; 

Provide training and resources for faculty to serve as mentors for URM ESI and trainees; and 

Develop an infrastructure and mechanism to provide direct support for the career development of URM trainees and faculty.
