Sandra Zelda Mwebe, PhD candidate
Sandra Zelda Mwebe is a nurse researcher and public health professional in Uganda with over a decade of experience in tuberculosis (TB) research, spanning clinical research, study coordination, data management, and implementation research. She is currently part of the R2D2 TB Network, evaluating novel point-of-care TB diagnostic approaches. Her research interests include TB and comorbidities, post-TB health, and person-centered models of care. She is pursuing a PhD in public health with a focus on strengthening post-TB care and recovery in Uganda. Through UC TRAC, she aims to strengthen my capacity as an independent TB researcher and advance integrated, patient-centered TB care in high-burden settings.
Esin Nkereuwem, MBBCh, MSc, PhD, FWACP
Esin Nkereuwem is a pediatrician and clinician-scientist at the Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). His research focuses on tuberculosis (TB) in children and adolescents, with an interest in diagnosis, treatment monitoring, and the long-term effects of TB on lung health and quality of life. He has led and collaborated on research projects spanning AI-based radiologic scoring, multi-country diagnostic studies, and investigations into the long-term consequences of TB on children's lung function. He trained as a pediatrician in Nigeria before completing an MSc and PhD at LSHTM. He is currently a University of California TRAC (TB Research Advancement Center) Global Fellow at UCSF, where he is building expertise in AI-assisted radiologic assessment and immunologic biomarker evaluation to advance his independent research career.
