On October 21, 2026, the World Health Organization released its first Guidance on Evidence Generation for new tuberculosis diagnostics. It is a road map for researchers, developers, and funders on designing and reporting studies of new TB tests, sample types, and testing strategies so the results can inform WHO recommendations. The guidance goes beyond accuracy to cover patient-important outcomes, equity, cost-effectiveness, and feasibility, and it introduces a new framework linking a test's role in the clinical pathway to study design. WHO acknowledged the R2D2 TB Network for providing the data sharing template used in the guidance. Congratulations to the team!
