A Partnership Across Campuses
With funding from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), University of California, San Francisco and University of California, Berkeley joined the inaugural cohort of six Tuberculosis Research Advancement Centers (TRACs) announced in 2022 to support the development of the next generation of tuberculosis researchers.
Dr. Payam Nahid at UCSF and Dr. Jeffery Cox of UC Berkeley serve as Co-Directors of UC TRAC (and administrative core). UC TRAC encompasses three cores dedicated to enhancing TB innovation and support for new-to-TB investigators. These cores are co-led by Drs. Babak Javid of UCSF and Sarah Stanley of UCB (Basic Science Core), Drs. Priya Shete and Patrick Phillips of UCSF (Clinical & Population Health Science Core), and Drs. Elizabeth Fair of UCSF and Art Reingold of UCB (Developmental Core).
ADMINISTRATIVE CORE AIMS:
- Providing Scientific and Administrative Leadership Across Domains
- Initiatives that bring the TB community together and promote TRAC growth, reduce siloes
- Provide infrastructure support to the Community Advisory Board
- Monitoring & Evaluation
ANNUAL UC TRAC MEETING: Bay Area TB Science (BATS) Symposium
The UC TRAC BATS Symposium brings together TB investigators at UCSF, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, Stanford University and SF Department of Public Health. UC TRAC hosts and sponsors this annual symposium to highlight established and early-stage investigators in the UC TRAC community with the intention to build community and foster collaboration. The planning committee is co-chaired by UC TRAC Basic Science Directors, Drs. Babak Javid (UCSF) and Sarah Stanley (UC Berkeley).
