Bay Area TB Science (BATS) is a monthly TB talks series and annual symposium hosted by UC TRAC and co-sponsored by UCSF Center for Tuberculosis and UC Berkeley Center for Emerging and Neglected Diseases. BATS brings together TB investigators at UCSF, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, Stanford University and the SF Department of Public Health to highlight established and early-stage investigators in the UC TRAC community with the intention to build community and foster collaboration.
The BATS Symposium planning committee is co-chaired by UC TRAC Basic Science Directors, Drs. Babak Javid (UCSF) and Sarah Stanley (UC Berkeley), and BATS Monthly is hosted by Dr. Babak Javid.

The Bay Area TB Science (BATS) Symposium will be held in person on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 9am-6pm, on the UCSF Mission Bay campus. It will focus on local researchers sharing their work and allow for networking opportunities along with talks, posters, catered lunch, and a wine and cheese reception.
Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Megan Murray, Ronda Stryker and William Johnston Professor of Global Health, and Director of Research, Global Health & Social Medicine at the Harvard Medical School. She is an epidemiologist and an infectious disease physician with over 25 years of experience studying tuberculosis and other emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases
The event will be hosted by the Center for Tuberculosis at UCSF, with partners from UC Berkeley, UC Davis, and Stanford University participating in the event’s planning committee.
